Product Development at Breville is all about delivering product excellence. Truthfully, every team in the business is driven by the desire to create the best product they can. When we’re at our best we keep the customer at the heart of our vision, working together to deeply understand the moments that matter to them in the kitchen and essentially deliver appliances that represent ‘mastery in a box’. We know we’ve delivered mastery when we can hand on heart say that the food results are better, simpler to achieve, involve less time and hassle and are more engaging to create. Creating products with this difference means taking the time to really understand food & the user, having the courage to try new and difficult things, having the tenaciousness to see them through with good humour and an openness to learn and evolve along the way. This is summed up by our tagline ‘master every moment’, something that is deeply embedded in the way we work.
About Global Product
Breville’s philosophical position on product development is that it is very much an evolving dialogue between what is desirable for the customer, technically possible to achieve and commercially viable to deliver. Innovation at Breville is every inch a team sport! You’ll get to work with an amazing array of passionate development specialists, from designers and engineers to food specialists, UX teams and digital product managers in a fun and collaborative environment. We work to develop products in an agile-for-hardware environment and have been deliberate in the way we’ve arranged our product development process. We move from disciplined experimentation to develop and vet ideas; to iterative development to establish product feasibility and work up detailed designs; to execution to plan to industrialise products for manufacture. In this spirit, Product Management at Breville is no less dynamic and collaborative and plays a key role throughout the development process.
This role would suit someone who is looking for flexibility and work life balance. It is a part time role, 3 days a week. As a Global Category Manager at Breville, your role requires becoming a category and product guru. The core of the role is to steward the development of products within your assigned category by ensuring that they have great product-market-fit. You will be working closely with your client, the GM of your business unit, to establish a compelling, competitively differentiated category and product strategy. And with your colleagues, the Product Development Managers and members of your Project Teams to ensure the consumer value and commercial viability of your product are in balance with its technical feasibility through-out the development process, from ideation to mass-production. As a global role you’re expected to stay in touch with your markets and customers across the world. You will also be expected to actively monitor your category, liaising with our regional Sales & Marketing teams to collect product requests, feedback, market data, consumer research findings and sales forecasts.
Further to that, you will be accountable for briefing and approving consumer-facing product content (pack messaging, user guides and recipe collateral etc.), and will work with the Go-To-Market team and our internal packaging agency to inform your product’s marketing strategy and collateral. You will also be required to assist with launching your products (at our biannual product launches) and training regional marketing and sales personnel.

You’ll be supported by your category management peers, direct manager the Head of Category Management and your Business Unit GM to help pick-up where our team-member has left off and run with the category plan. We’re also a business experiencing rapid growth, so there may be opportunities that flow on from the contract should you be interested.
